COMPLETE MISCKIT FTP ARCHIVES NOW AVAILABLEProvo, UT, December 16, 1997 -- MiscKit maintainer Don Yacktman announced today the availability of a new FTP site containing the complete MiscKit Effort's software archive. The MiscKit is a free to use framework of classes and example code for Rhapsody, Apple's next generation operating system. This new ftp mirror contains the entire MiscKit software distribution including all previously released versions of the MiscKit. It also contains a rich collection of classic literature in RTF format, Don Yacktman's GameKit software, and the source code to an Apple ][ emulator. The software archive, provided by Ensuing Technologies, may be accessed at ftp://ftp2.misckit.com/ . "The MiscKit is continuing to expand, with many improvements underway," said Don Yacktman, the kit's maintainer. "This new service underscores the commitment we made last July to support Rhapsody developers. It is the first of many planned changes which are intended to make the MiscKit a quality collection of free source code for Rhapsody developers." The MiscKit commitment to Rhapsody is very strong. Included in that commitment is the promise to convert over 100 reusable classes from the NEXTSTEP version of the MiscKit to be compatible with Apple's next generation Yellow Box technology. The early versions of the Yellow Box MiscKit, which are available now, contain much of this work as well as many new objects designed specifically to enhance the Yellow Box. Because the MiscKit is free to use and contains such a rich base of code, it is a very powerful tool for all Rhapsody developers. "The MiscKit has grown tremendously because the developer community has unselfishly contributed to it," added Don Yacktman. "The latest contribution by Ensuing is one of many examples of this, and it is greatly appreciated. I am excited to see the complete archive once again made publically available." "We are pleased that this move will give the Macintosh developer community access to the quality framework and source code of MiscKit," said Karl Kraft, president of Ensuing Technologies.
