ANNOUNCING THE MISCKIT'S RHAPSODY ROADMAP

Free Objective-C Object Kit Will Be Available For Rhapsody

PROVO, UT, July 30, 1997 -- Today MiscKit administrator Don Yacktman affirmed that future plans include complete support for the upcoming Rhapsody operating system expected in 1Q 1998 from Apple Computer, Inc.

"I am continually being asked if the MiscKit's future support plans include Rhapsody. My answer is always 'of course!'", says Yacktman. "We are currently undertaking a port of the functionality found in the NEXTSTEP based kit to create a new OPENSTEP based kit. Since Rhapsody will be based upon the OPENSTEP APIs, the work in progress will be usable with Rhapsody when it is released."

With the release today of another version of the OPENSTEP MiscKit, the work continues unabated. The next release of the OPENSTEP MiscKit is expected to occur shortly after the DR1 release of Rhapsody and, if possible, will be usable immediately by Rhapsody developers.

The participation of Apple and NeXT developers who would like to contribute to this free kit is welcomed and encouraged. "Take a look at the kit, find something that needs to be done which tickles your fancy, and go for it!" says the kit administrator.
